Chrissy Teigen had a gas response to a Twitter user wondering why women won't take their husband's surnames

It turns out John Legend isn’t even his real name.

EARLIER THIS WEEK, an old tweet resurfaced and it began a conversation about marriage.

The woman who posted the tweet was trying to get a better understanding of those difficult women who’d rather not give up a huge part of their identity when they get married.

Some people had some very simple explanations:

While others explained that the tradition varies all over the world.

But perhaps Chrissy Teigen’s response made the most sense.

Referencing the fact that John Legend’s real name is actually John Roger Stephens, she tweeted:


Well, that’s as good an excuse as any.
