CONNIE K’S IS a bar and restaurant in Rathmore, Co. Kerry

And with Christmas fast approaching, they have made a generous offer to people in need in their local community.

Yesterday they posted the following image on Facebook and announced they would be offering Christmas dinner to homeless, elderly and families in need, and invited people to contact them in confidence.

Connie K’s noted that they were inspired to make the offer after speaking to a local woman who was struggling with the expense of Christmas.

I recently spoke to a lady only a few steps away from my front door and after a brief emotional chat as she was very upset, I was shocked to learn of the struggle she and her family faced on a daily basis in our locality.
To provide even the most basic things like food & clothing she seemed to be dreading the thought of Christmas. We read and hear about these things every day but sometimes we don’t realise how close to home people are affected.

The status has been shared hundreds of times since yesterday afternoon with many commending the bar for embracing ‘the true meaning of Christmas’.

Connie K’s is not the only pub or restaurant to reach out to their community in this way. The Bakehouse in Tullamore, Co. Offaly has also offered to serve food to the homeless and those struggling to afford a Christmas dinner.

Wonderful.
