Peter Capaldi's Doctor Who debut leaks online six weeks before air date

It comes just a week after scripts from the new series were leaked.

A ROUGH BLACK and white edit of Peter Capaldi’s Doctor Who debut has appeared online, six weeks before it officially airs.

Capaldi’s first episode as the Doctor, titled Deep Breath, is due to air on 23 August.

The 56-year-old actor was revealed as the new Doctor last year.

It’s not the first misfortune that has befallen the upcoming series – six scripts from series eight were leaked last week, for which the BBC apologised to the show’s fans, cast and crew.

The first episode of the new series, which appears to be marked for BBC internal use, began appearing on torrent websites yesterday evening.

As well as being in black and white, the edit is heavily watermarked and missing special effects.

A BBC Worldwide spokesperson told Radio Times that they are investigating how the unfinished materials came to be leaked:

This content is currently being removed and originates in the same Miami server we disabled last week, it is not a new issue.
We’d like to thank the amazing Doctor Who fans who are continuing to keep fansites and social media spoiler free but would remind anyone downloading and sharing this material that it is illegal to do so.

The hashtag #keepmespoilerfree has since sprung up on Twitter to encourage fans not to share any plot details, and the Whovians are doing their part:
