Here's why Domhnall Gleeson called himself 'British' at Comic Con

IRISH ACTOR DOMNHALL Gleeson was announced as part of the main cast for the new Star Wars film last April, but until now his role remained a mystery.

Finally, at a Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel at the San Diego Comic Con event on Friday his character was revealed.

Gleeson (who’s the son of actor Brendan) will play General Hux, a baddie in charge of Starkiller Base.

At the event Gleeson was asked for some details about his character and he’s widely reported as responding:

Stand down everyone. Gleeson was not denying his Irish roots, he was simply giving a detail about General Hux. Phew. We can all get on with our days.
