Do you pay for the 'plane water' at Dublin Airport? Be honest...

IF YOU’VE BEEN in Dublin Airport, you’ve probably noticed the little displays of ‘plane water’ that are dotted around the place.

The ‘honesty box’ system of paying for water was set up in 2012, and while it seems like a lovely idea, you can’t help but wonder if everyone is throwing in the €1 like they should.

This may be surprising, but most people actually do cough up.

According to statistics from Dublin Airport, 92% of passengers pay for the water, and the 8% who don’t face the judgement of all the people who witness them taking it:

If you, like some of the people above, are wondering what the motivation for not paying would be – well, for some it’s a matter of principle.

Going off what people have revealed on Twitter, it appears that others who take the bottles don’t happen to have a euro on them at the time, while still more simply enjoy the buzz of ‘stealing’ it. (We all have to get our thrills somehow.)

So here’s the question: Do you pay for the ‘plane water’?

Poll Results:

Of course I do, I am no thief! (5960)
I am the 8% (581)
