AVID FIRST DATES Ireland viewers will probably remember Alannah-Rose O’Grady Kennedy, a 21-year-old architecture student from Waterford, from episode two of the series.

Alannah-Rose went on a date with Dawn, a 24-year-old from Tralee. It was clear from hte off that the two weren’t suited and the date was a bit of a disaster… to put it mildly.

Afterwards, the pair mutually agreed that a second date was out of the question.

But in the post-date round-up, the show stated that the pair set aside their differences to party in The George with Alannah-Rose going so far as to call it “one of the best nights of her life”.

Aw, isn’t that lovely.

Only problem? It’s also a big fat lie.

When the show aired, Alannah-Rose was shocked to discover that she had had “one of the best nights of her life” in The George when in fact that had never happened.

As she explained to DailyEdge.ie, they actually went to Workman’s and Dawn didn’t hang around for long.

Dawn and I shared a taxi to Workman’s where we met up with the other daters (background daters of our episode) and Dawn left after the first drink.

Alannah-Rose described the fabrication as a “cheap shot” and wrote that she was “very upset” with being misquoted. She immediately e-mailed COCO Television, the production company behind First Dates Ireland, to express her disappointment.

I e-mailed them a letter in which I expressed my disappointment and sadness of their untruthful portrayal of the night’s actual events after the show.
I was unhappy with the show’s conclusion as I found it to be fake and offensive to my character.

Shortly thereafter, a new epilogue was added to the end of the second episode of First Dates Ireland, which more accurately reflected the night’s events. This revised statement will now be seen in repeats and on the RTÉ Player.

Far cry from “one of the best nights of her life,” eh?

In a statement, RTÉ confirmed to DailyEdge.ie that Coco Productions spoke with Alannah-Rose and made the amendment.

The production company spoke with Alannah Rose and were happy to clarify and amend the post-date round up information at the end of the show.

So now.
