Frozen director apologises to parents sick and tired of hearing Let It Go

Jennifer Lee understands.

“THE SNOW GLOWS white on the mountain tonight…”

If you’re a parent of small children, no doubt you did an involuntary shiver upon reading that.

It’s been one year since Frozen was released, but the film is more popular than ever – the most-wanted toys this Christmas are related to the film, both of Ireland’s toy shows featured entire segments dedicated to the phenomenon, and you can’t turn right without hearing its signature song, Let It Go.

You’d think she’d be pleased about it all, but Frozen director Jennifer Lee understands what the success of the film has meant for parents of little kids – aural agony.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee said parents that in the year since the film came out, parents have stopped being so complimentary about the songs:

A year ago, I’d meet people who, when they found out who I was, they’d say: “Oh, we love the songs! We sing them all the time.” Now they’re like, “Yep, we’re still listening to those songs.” I’ve gone from “Thank you” to “Sorry!”

Good of her to resist the urge to tell parents to “let it go”. Very nice.
