WE’VE ALL USED Google Translate in a desperate bid to understand some complex sentence from our Irish, French, German or Spanish homework. We’ll be the first to admit that the translations aren’t always 100% accurate but it’s better than nothing right?
The guy trying to chat me up on Instagram is sending me flirty messages in Irish but clearly doesn’t speak a word and is using Google Translate.

Well, Jimmy Fallon has a fun little segment called ‘Google Translate Song’ where he puts songs through Google Translate and then retranslates them back to English. Then he gets celebrities to sing out the results.
Amanda Seyfried of Mamma Mia fame was in the hot seat the other night and let’s just say that both she and Google Translate played an absolute blinder.
First up was the ultimate Abba fave, ‘Dancing Queen’ which when translated back to English is actually called ‘Hula Prince’. Naturally.
‘Enjoy the genre of dance’ just sounds threatening more than anything else right?
Please don’t eat the hula prince. It won’t be as delicious as it sounds.
Next up was Jimmy Fallon who turned his dulcet tones to ‘Take A Chance On Me’ which took a slightly more disturbing turn when re-translated.
Stealing is illegal kids.
While licking someone’s problems isn’t illegal, it is very creepy so we wouldn’t advise doing that either.
Oh, Google Translate, you silly bastard.
Finally, Amanda and Jimmy teamed up to give us a beautiful rendition of ‘Mamma Mia’ which of course translated to ‘My mom arrived’.
I suppose this is an accurate reaction when your mum comes home and you’ve realised too late that you forgot to take the chicken out of the freezer.
You would also be screaming ‘Mamma Mia!’ if your mother walked in on you on top of a fella wouldn’t you?
Learn from this kids, don’t trust Google Translate.
