A FEW MONTHS ago, Dublin artist John Braine painted Ted and Dougal onto two traffic boxes near Connolly Station.

The whole thing was part of Dublin Canvas, a deadly initiative that pairs artists with traffic boxes and lets them go wild.

Since then, it appears that somebody has painted ‘Repeal The 8th’ on the two boxes in question.

And you know who heartily approves? None other than Graham Linehan himself.

Graham Linehan, writer & director( Father Ted, Black Books & IT crowd) campaigns for #repealthe8th having shared his own personal story, that his wife Helen and he lived through. See linked below their extremely moving @amnestyireland interview https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aYpRBR93TdU .Below is an extract from a @guardian piece he penned on the same issue . "It's time for Irish politicians, and those seeking public office, to acknowledge the current abortion laws. Laws which do not in fact prevent women from having abortions but instead force them to travel to another country to have a termination. The brutal impact of these laws can be seen in the lived experiences of women forced to leave their families at a time of such intense personal tragedy. It's been three years since Savita Halappanavar died of sepsis after being denied the abortion she repeatedly requested. Do we need to wait for another tragic case before we act? I hope not. I hope that another woman need not die because the Irish political system is too cowardly to deal with the issue proactively." #repealthe8th @freesafelegal
