Graham Norton: Master of Shade.

LAST NIGHT’S Eurovision Song Contest was somewhat more subdued than other years, with much of the classic Eurovision weirdness swapped out for Actually OK Music. The horror!

Though everyone held differing opinions on the songs, all could agree on one thing:

Yes, Graham Norton was back doing the BBC commentary, and he was on FIRE. Here are 12 of his best quips.

1. On the Hungarian contestant’s interesting name

Her name was unpronounceable, so she decided to go by her nickname, which is Boggie. She could have called herself anything. Trixie-bell, Floo Floo, but no. Boggie.

2. On the Danish presenter’s outfit…

It’s obviously dress-down Saturday in Denmark.

3. The Georgian contestant’s get-up…

I fear some Georgian crows were harmed in the making of this outfit. Did they die in vain?

4. And the German presenter’s dress, too

It’s like a bit of corrugated shed was blown of a roof and hit her in the neck.

5. On Australia

6. When the live feeds kept cutting out during the points-giving

Even in 2015 it’s like there’s a tin can and string connecting us to some of these countries.

7. On the weirder backing dancers

8. And again, with the dancers

He really didn’t hold back on them, did he?

And it is quite a good song, but you won’t notice because you’ll be distracted by the…oh, let’s call them dancers.

9. When Russia decided to make a ‘joke’

Many people were unimpressed with the Russian presenter giving douze pointe to his own country as a gag. Graham said what we were all thinking:

10. This reference to Poland’s racy 2014 entry

11. When he frankly disagreed with the hosts

At one point, two of the hosts went into the audience and complimented all the ‘good-looking men’ in the crowd. Graham didn’t agree:

12. And when he said what everyone was thinking, again

Host: This has been the longest running music event in the world!
Graham: And that’s just tonight.

Where would we be without you, Graham?
