HECTOR Ó HEOCHAGÁIN has confirmed that he’s leaving his 2FM breakfast show slot.
The broadcaster has confirmed that he’ll be staying on with RTÉ to work on his Hector Goes series.
He’ll also be pursuing other TV projects in 2014. The news comes amid rumours of further scheduling changes within 2FM.
Head of 2FM Dan Healy said:
Hector is a major personality and hugely loved by Irish audiences and has played a significant role in developing breakfast radio with his show ‘Breakfast with Hector’ on 2fm.
‘Keep her lit’ helped take the country through the past three years of the recession with outside broadcasts from Friday factory floor fillers to second chance debs.
RTE 2fm would like to take this opportunity to thank Hector for the enormous effort it takes to broadcast a breakfast show and for the entertainment he gave to his ‘soldiers of the dawn’.
Hector himself tweeted a link to the email confirming the news, telling listeners he will “speak to all of you in the morning”:
