Hozier Does Rush Hour

Hozier busked in a NYC subway station, and people are raging they weren't there to witness it

“Wish I was a rat on that subway station… a mere roach…”

IT WAS A case of ‘right time, right place’ for anyone who happened to be making their way home via one particular New York subway station in recent hours.

And why’s that, says you.

Well, that’d be because none other than Andrew Hozier Byrne decided to stop and do a little busking at the Rockerfeller Centre station.

The singer, who performed on Good Morning America and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week, can be seen giving it his all to Take Me To Church, Almost (Sweet Music) and Nina Cried Power in videos he uploaded to Instagram and Twitter earlier today.

Dropped in on some New Yorkers’ commute home tonight for a quick subway session. Full video in the stories!

Naturally, his fans and followers who missed it – which, to be fair, would be damn near most of them – felt bereft. Utterly, utterly bereft.

“I missed it…..WTF,” wrote one while another frantically questioned: “WHY IS IT NOT NEXT WEEK WHEN I AM THERE?”

Those living in New York politely requested that the Wicklow-native return to the hell that is peak rush hour in New York, and perform an encore for anyone who missed the initial gig.

And then there were those who gently suggested that he might start doing some impromptu performing in their own home towns in the not-too-distant future.

You know, if he wouldn’t mind, like.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering what it was like to witness it in person, one very fortunate Instagram user was quick to tell all those who missed it that it really was as magical as they assumed.

I was lucky enough to catch it and everyone sounded beautiful. What a treat. The people around me were so uplifted – it was the nicest I’ve ever seen people be to each other in the subway.

Right OK, we get it.
