Hozier says that when he burst onto the scene with Take Me To Church he didn’t feel like he was part of any “scene” at all:
I kind of just came out of the attic one day with the songs and then did them with Rob but then coming to America as a total outsider, coming into the music industry as an outsider but what I’m amazed and encouraged by is that you know, this was a small operation.
