'Jacket potato crime' makes for excellent headlines in Huddersfield

It would leave a bad taste in your mouth.

THERE’S BEEN A bout of potato treachery in Huddersfield.

Keep your children indoors. Be vigilant. There’s a spud vandal or vandals on the loose.

The Huddersfield Examiner reports that a baked potato was “thrown at the bus as it drove in Smithy Place Lane, Brockholes on July 2 at about 10pm”.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a jacket potato has made the headlines in Huddersfield.

Back in November 2013, this case was before the magistrates:


In this instance the potato was merely the catalyst for a row, rather than causing any damage itself:

She said she wanted a jacket potato from the shop… she eventually opened the door and snatched the jacket potato out of his hand… the pair also argued about Powell not taking the dog out.
