The internet is fascinated by these huuuuuge Japanese pancakes

WE’RE FANS OF cakes. We’re fans of pancakes. So anything that combines the two is totally fine by us.

Pictures of these large, strange pancakes are being shared wildly on Instagram and Reddit lately:

So perfectly round and smooth! Almost disturbingly so, no?

These are Japanese hotcakes (or Japanese-style pancakes) and they are, as per blogger La Fuji Mama, sweeter and fluffier than your average American-style pancakes.

These particular ones are the specialty of the Aoyama Garden café in Tokyo, and according to Reddit, they’re easily recreated in a rice cooker.

Amazing. A pile of these instead of a birthday cake this year, please and thanks.
