Jennifer Garner's 'I've left the immersion on' face baffled her as much as the rest of us

The gif of the year.

WITH EVERY ACADEMY Awards ceremony comes at least one moment which is just prime meme fodder.

Last year, we had Nicole Kidman’s bizarre (and possibly seal-inspired) clapping.

And this year we had Jennifer Garner’s ‘I’ve left the fecking immersion on’ face.

It was the expression that launched a thousand memes, but if you thought the woman herself might be able to shed a little light on the subject, you’re in for a disappointment.

Jen is as flummoxed as the rest of us.

JEN SHOCKED

Appearing on Ellen this week, the actress said she was inundated with messages in the aftermath of the Oscars, with everyone only dying to know what exactly had crossed her mind that resulted in such a stunned expression.

And unfortunately, she hasn’t a notion.

What is happening? What am I doing? I mean, I started getting texts, as you can image, with people saying, you know, what were you thinking? What’s happening?

What she does know, however, is that she was sick of the sight of her own face in the days that followed this year’s Academy Awards.

I can’t even look at it. I can’t. It’s too embarrassing. I try really hard not to see myself online, but she was a little unavoidable.

And while the rest of us were falling over ourselves coming up with captions for that golden moment, Jennifer was just pure mortified.

After Ellen reminded the actress just ‘how disturbed’ she looked, Jennifer agreed, adding: “I want to just punch her in the face.”

Bit harsh, Jen.
