Joanne McNally's 'refreshingly honest' Baby Hater doc was a huge hit with viewers last night

The show explored why people have such strong feelings on women choosing to not have kids.

LAST NIGHT, PEOPLE sat down to watch comedian Joanne McNally explore the world of motherhood in her documentary, Baby Hater.

At 34, Joanne is ’80%’ sure that she doesn’t want to have kids – the show asks why women who choose to remain child free are thought of as ‘selfish’ and ‘baby haters’.

It’s eight pounds and three ounces of pure responsibility and commitment. And the commitment has a beautiful little bow on her head and she’s so cute, but like… You’ve to be really ready to give that baby your all.

She spoke to women who share her view, as well as women who feel being a mother is their calling in life and, fascinatingly, women who regret having children altogether.

Joanne’s mam even added her two cents, saying that although she’d love to see her daughter have children, she understands why it might not happen:

There was a time I would have said that I hope you change your mind, but I’ve changed my mind now. It’s quite a hard route to take. Wonderful rewards, but you’re never your own person again.

Viewers praised the documentary’s nuanced take on the subject – parenting isn’t something you should go into blindly, and not everyone is suited to it.

At the end of the day though, the decision is not really anyone else’s business:
