Katy Perry, Macaulay Culkin and Eddie Redmayne are among celebrities paying tribute to Stephen Hawking

Everyone’s fondly remembering Professor Hawking’s great sense of humour.

THIS MORNING, MANY people woke up to the news that Stephen Hawking passed away at the age of 76.

Many have expressed admiration for everything that Hawking achieved over the course of his lifetime.

Katy Perry said that there is a ‘big black hole’ in her heart.

 And celebrity astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson said that Hawking’s passing has left an ‘intellectual vacuum’.

 Foo Fighters shared one of their favourite Stephen Hawking quotes:

Macaulay Culkin said that Hawking was his favourite Simpsons character.

Eddie Redmayne, who played Stephen Hawking in the movie The Theory of Everything released a statement:


We have lost a truly beautiful mind, an astonishing scientist and the funniest man I have ever had the pleasure to meet. My love and thoughts are with his extraordinary family.

NASA shared one of Professor Hawking’s happiest moments to their Twitter account.

In this video, you can hear Hawking speak about the experience he had at a NASA Space Station in 2007.

In 2007, I was lucky enough to experience microgravity on the Zero G flight. For me, this was true freedom. People who know me well, say that my smile was the biggest they’d ever seen. I was Superman for those few minutes.

Even 15-year-old popstar Jacob Sartorius said he was fascinated by Hawking’s story.

Many people are fondly looking back on Stephen Hawking’s contributions to TV shows like The Simpsons and Futurama.
