This guy dropped an iPhone 6 into a lava lamp and things got weird

Weird and a little explosive.

THERE ARE SOME experiments that the world needs to know about and people have to actually see to believe.

Dropping a gold-plated iPhone 6 into a lava lamp does not count as one of these.

Still, technology blogger TechRax went ahead and did it anyway, and the results were pretty insane:

Not only did the iPhone nearly explode but, unsurprisingly enough, it stopped working. Goodbye, perfectly usable iPhone. You died for science, if that’s any consolation.

Most people’s reactions were along the lines of “WHAT”

And some debate over its news legitimacy

It looked like it was going to explode! How much more do people want?

But the general level of exasperation was pretty evident

Still, we approve the experiment. For science.
