LENA DUNHAM HAS hit out at a magazine for featuring an image of her to advertise ’20 slimdown diet tips that stars are using’.

The star of Girls has never kept many secrets about her body in the past and today is no different, as she slammed Now magazine by responding with an honest list of the 20 slimdown diet tips that helped her to attain her current figure.

She listed her 20 slimdown diet tips on an Instagram post.

  • Anxiety disorder
  • Resultant constant nausea
  • An election that reveals the true depths of American misogyny
  • Sleeping 19 hours a day
  • Bladder spasm, urinary frequency and urgency
  • Having your phone number leaked and violent images text to your phone
  • Keeping your back arched against the wind

And finally:

  • I have no tips I give no tips I don’t want to be on this cover cuz it’s diametrically opposed to everything I’ve fought my whole career for and it’s not a compliment to me because it’s not an achievement thanx

This comes just weeks after an interview with Ellen Degeneres who asked her about the flack she got for losing weight. Lena told Ellen that “[she] spent six years of [her] career being called things like “bag of milk”, “baby cow” and “ageing cow” on the internet. [She] never felt self conscious about it”.

After beginning to work out in order to get a handle on her endometriosis, people began to call her a hypocrite for supposedly being body positive and then deciding to lose weight. She simply responded that “bodies change”.

Lena remarked that this was evidence that there is no winning for women in Hollywood.

Just days before lashing out over the magazine article, she shared a post relating to her struggle with endometriosis:

Thank you for all the love & concern that's been pouring in since Tuesday. Although I'm much healthier than I was a year ago, complications arose from my most recent endometriosis surgery. When the healthcare of so many American women, especially our trans sisters, is at-risk- or already nonexistent- I am lucky to be in the position to seek help when I'm in pain. To those in that privileged spot- never forget that we are blessed and can pay it forward by supporting Planned Parenthood and LGBTQ clinics like Callen-Lorde with our 💰 and ⌚️. I also want to remind all the women suffering from chronic illness that we aren't weak- quite the opposite, actually. We do our jobs with skill even when we're struggling. We care for our families even when we can hardly care for ourselves. We serve major face on a red carpet when we feel like lying face down would be more appropriate. I'll always be proud of those Met Gala pics- not just because I felt beautiful, surrounded by art and magic, hugging my best friend tightly, but because they're evidence that women contain steely multitudes. Just that morning @dianafalzone sued Fox after they took her off air for disclosing her endometriosis. But they're the ones who lost when they lost her, because everyone who's anyone knows that if you can battle chronic illness there's nothing you can't take on.
