All the best looks from last night's celeb-packed Met Gala

Just about everyone was there.

ONE OF THE biggest dates in the fashion calendar is the swanky Met Gala, which takes place on the first Monday in May every year.

Last night’s gala was in honour of the avant garde Japanese fashion label Comme des Garcons as well as its mysterious, reclusive founder, Rei Kawakubo.

Let’s get right to it and see the rig outs, shall we?

Rihanna

Rihanna was one of the few guests who actually chose to wear Comme des Garcons – and in fairness, it takes someone like RiRi to do it justice. Stunning.

Katy Perry

Katy was the co-chair of the gala, and fittingly turned up in a highly dramatic Maison Margiela number. We can’t help but think of Regina George’s backbrace, though.

Kim Kardashian

Very understated for our Kim!

Kendall Jenner

This is not a dress so much as it is a walking anxiety attack.

Help.

How do you wrangle yourself?

Kylie Jenner

Those strings dipped into someone’s soup at some stage during the dinner. We’ll bet the house on it.

Cara Delevingne

Cara shaved off her hair recently for a movie role, and accessorized her bald head with a coat of silver paint. Slay.

Lupita Nyong’o

Looking like a fresh spring breeze.

Zendaya

The young actress continues her streak of outdressing everyone else at every event she attends.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

Chrissy, that dress is bonkers. Still love you, though.

Nicki Minaj

Seems about right.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese is wondering when she can get a glass of Pinot. Us too.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Blake is cosplaying as an exotic bird. Ryan’s matching dickie bow is a cute touch.

Gigi Hadid

Lots happening here, none of it good.

Bella Hadid

Don’t worry Bella, we’re looking at you.

Jaden Smith

He’s carrying a bunch of his recently lopped-off dreadlocks. We’re looking at you too, Jaden. Rest easy.

Solange

This is a callback to a past Comme des Garcons collection of puffer coats. Only Solange.

Lena Dunham

She looks GREAT.

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd

Speaking of reclusive, how are ye, Olsens?

Rami Malek

Far from the black Mr Robot hoodie is he now.

Jennifer Lopez and her new beau, Alex Rodriguez

Yes, the baseball player who has previously been linked to Cameron Diaz, Demi Moore, Kate Hudson, and Madonna. He likes them famous.

Claire Danes

This looks like Comme – and if so, fair play, Angela Chase.

P Diddy and his girlfriend, Cassie

YES. Great cloak, Diddy.

Ruth Negga

Hey girl!

Sarah Paulson

This is handy because she can actually help out with the dusting as she walks around the place.

Tom Brady and Giselle

Tom and Giselle were the co-hosts of the event, because of course they are the first people who spring to mind when you think of avant garde fashion.

Queen Celine

What a lady.

And Madonna

Unbelievable, as per. She also had an army canteen she kept taking sups out of on the red carpet. Classic Madge.

Please look at this amazing photo of her and Sarah Paulson having a moment:

There’s one for your mantelpiece, Sarah. And that’s it for another year! See you on the next first Monday in May, Met Gala.
