IF THERE’S ONE thing we can all agree on, it’s that President Michael D Higgins would be a dream wedding guest.
An Irish bride-t0-be named Katie Makk decided to write to the big man himself.
“I was writing my invitations and just thought it would be cool/funny to send an invitation to the President,” she told DailyEdge.ie.
You’ve got to put these things out to the universe sometimes, you know yourself.
To her surprise, Makk received a letter from Áras an Úachtaráin this morning. The President thanked her for her invitation, but politely declined.
Your thoughtfulness in extending the invitation is very much appreciated by the President regrets that, due to the extent of his commitments, it is not possible for him to accept. The President would like to wish you both every happiness for the future.
“I never expected to get a response,” she told DailyEdge.ie. “It is just hilarious. What a nice man.”
