EVERY YEAR ON the evening before Mother’s Day, supermarkets are packed with last minute shoppers trying to get the last of the flowers and Dove bath sets because they forgot what week it was.
Now there’s nothing wrong with a Dove set, but this year some of the gifts on offer are so clever that you will probably want them for yourself.
A personalized Mother’s Day card from Arnotts
These lovely sentimental cards are available on March 24th and 25th, when award winning artist Linda Byrne will be in store between 11am and 4pm doing live illustrations.
All you have to do is just bring your mam into Arnotts, or take a photo of your mam if you’d prefer to surprise her. Best of all, the cards are complimentary but any donations made will go to the LauraLynn Children’s Hospice, a hospice for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
This amazing gin and tonic tasting set from Aldi
This gift set includes 4 mini bottles of Aldi gin: Tanqueray London Dry Gin, Gordons London Dry Gin, Hayman’s London Dry Gin, and JJ Whitley London Dry Gin. As well as that they include 4 different flavoured bottles of Bottle Green tonic water which are: classic, light, pink and elderflower.
For only €13.99, you might as well treat yourself too. Also in Aldi this week are sets of wine glasses that hold 750ml each.
Or this gin and tonic molecular mixology kit if your mam has notions
If an Aldi gin and tonic gift set isn’t enough to get your mam excited, maybe this gin and tonic kit for €30 from Designist might appeal to her.
Use the included cinchona bark to make your very own homemade tonic syrup. Mix the included ingredients with citrus zests, lemongrass, some spices and seasoning and add to a simple sugar syrup to create your very own tonic water in just 72 hours.
There are three options to choose from. You can make a cloud of tonic, tonic syrup caviar to float in your gin, or gin and tonic bubbles, which are spheres of liquid that burst in your mouth.
Basically anything from & Other Stories
& Other Stories which recently opened on Grafton Street is a step above your average women’s clothing retailer. As well as clothes, jewelry and an excellent footwear selection, they have so many amazing candles, skincare products, soaps, perfumes. You are guaranteed to find something that smells nice for your mam here, and it’s all pretty reasonably priced.
There’s a huge selection of body scrubs, all of which look so appealing. Luckily the store provides customers with a sink to try out all of their hand soaps and body scrubs before purchasing. This might actually make the decision harder, because you’re going to want them all.
This bathrobe that will make her feel like she’s at a spa every day
From just €23 in IKEA, you can get your mam a bathrobe similar to the ones you find in posh hotels to wear at home whenever she likes. These really are fantastic and make a simple thing like getting dried after a shower feel like a luxury.
Throw in another €2.50 and you can throw in the matching slippers for the full luxury spa experience. These and a couple of products from & Other Stories and your mam’s everyday life will be a little more glam.
