FANS OF THE Simpsons are being asked to vote online to determine the outcome of the budding relationship between characters Ned Flanders and Edna Krabappel.

The two characters in the hit animated TV show that has been running for over 20 years hit it off in the last episode of series 22 and fans are now being asked to vote online to determine the outcome of their relationship, the result of which will be revealed when series 23 is premiered in September.

Edna – better known as Bart Simpson’s school teacher – and Ned – neighbour to the Simpsons and permanent irritant to Homer – got together in the final episode of series 22.

The plot unfolds when Bart, feeling guilty for getting his teacher suspended, helps her escape detention and Ned Flanders winds up saving Edna’s life.

When Edna and Ned start dating, the normally religiously conservative Ned is surprised to learn that his new flame has slept with many of Springfield’s men including Homer and Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer, who guest-voices as himself.

The episode leaves us at a cliffhanger that only the audience can decide by voting on whether they are ‘Pro Nedna’ or ‘No Nedna’.

The latest plot twist is seen as an attempt to bring some of the show’s old glory back.

In series six, fans were left asking “Who Shot Mr. Burns?” after the nuclear plant owner was gunned down. It was a cliffhanger that left Simpsons’ fans worldwide wanting to know whodunnit? (Spoiler alert below)

It was Maggie Simpson.
