that's pants

This battle between a restaurant and a Yelp reviewer is the craziest thing you'll read today

There are poopy pants involved. Just a heads up.

IT ALL STARTED with what was supposed to be a lovely night at happy hour in Nick’s Riverside Grill, Washington DC.

But then this negative (and now deleted) Yelp review left by a mysterious ‘Emma C’ kicked off a chain of events that has gripped the internet:

NEVER GO AGAIN! WORST SERVICE! I went there for happy hour and they hold my card at the bar. Charged me two drinks and more while I only ordered one drink… I called and they just said the manager is really busy and will call me back. As you can figure, no call at all. I didn’t sign the bill! If you swipe my card wrongly for someone else, I’m not paying for it.

It seems like your regular negative Yelp review, right? But the staff of Nick’s Riverside Grill paint a very different picture of that night.

Responding to the review manager ‘Liz S’ said that they did call her back, but she didn’t return the call, and that was because…

The fact of the matter is you lost control of your bowels in the middle of our restaurant, and you proceeded to sit in it for the remainder of the evening, making more of a mess. We had to reroute our patrons so they didn’t walk through your mess, causing quite a scene. You then proceeded to throw your underwear away in our trash can and our poor manager working that night was left to clean up your feces.

“So for you to have the audacity to leave this review when we went above and beyond to make sure you were taken care of is petty and ridiculous,” Liz S concluded.

It didn’t take long for the Yelp drama to go viral, at which point it caught the attention of Washington City Paper.

A reporter contacted Nick’s Riverside Grill for more details about the incident (which include the appearance of fire fighters and an ambulance) – but after the article was published, ‘Emma C’ got in touch to say that she is not the woman who pooped her pants:

It was merely a coincidence that I was at the bar the same night as this other girl… I just wanted to clarify that I’m just a dissatisfied customer who is now being accused by this establishment of being someone that I’m not.

Owner Greg Casten insists that several members of staff can identify Emma C as the woman who pooped her pants – but says he will review the CCTV footage again.

Meanwhile, the whole internet is discussing the story:

So what’s the truth? WHAT IS THE TRUTH? More on this important story as we get it.
