Nicole Kidman says she supports her eldest childrens' decision to practice Scientology

‘It’s my job to love them.’

NICOLE KIDMAN HAS always been notoriously tight-lipped about the marriage she once shared with Tom Cruise, and the two children they adopted together during that time.

This week, however, the 51-year-old actress has made reference to 25-year-old Isabella and 23-year-old Conor in a revealing interview with Who magazine, articulating her support of their decision to remain members of the Church of Scientology.

Acknowledging that she has made a conscious decision not to speak publicly about her eldest children thus far, Nicole said: “I’m very private about all that. I have to protect all those relationships.”

Nicole, who left Scientology upon divorcing Tom Cruise in 2001, spoke of her childrens’ involvement.

They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions.

“They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them,” she added.

The organisation, which has been subject to intense criticism from former members, counts Tom among its most famous parishioners.

Giving an insight into her thought process when it comes to motherhood, Nicole continued:

I am an example of that tolerance and that’s what I believe – that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I’m open here.

Nicole is now married to Keith Urban, and shares two daughters with him.
