9 of the best reaction faces from the Prime Time marriage equality debate

David McCullagh’s eyebrows threatened to fall off his forehead.

PRIMETIME’S MARRIAGE equality debate was all the nation could talk about last night.

The Yes side was represented by Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald and Yes Equality’s Noel Whelan and Grainne Healy, while David Quinn, John Waters and Eileen King of Mothers and Fathers Matter were on the No side. (Here’s a rundown of what was discussed.)

Though the debate was very civilised at the outset, it soon turned into a shouting match that can be summed up with the following faces:

1. The David McCullagh eyebrow circus

2.

3. Minister Fitzgerald’s “This referendum isn’t even about gay marriage as a principle” reaction face

4. The moment when David Quinn seemed to regret everything

5. This very subtle ‘eyes thrown up to heaven’ from Minister Fitzgerald

And Noel Whelan, whose reactions spanned a range of emotions

8. “Are you all hearing this?”

9. And “Yeah, I’m done”
