10 products that will help oily-skinned gals through the Irish summer

And they’re all €20 and under. *thumbs up*

SUMMER IS GREAT FUN for everyone except women with oily skin, who at the mere sniff of warm weather feel like they’ve got a chip pan for a face.

Shine, melting makeup, angry spots that demand to be seen – whatever the complaint, there IS a solution. Let us help.

1. Bourjois Air Mat foundation, €13.99

A matte base is a scary concept to many, but Bourjois’ offering does not feel like you’re spreading cement on your face.

Air Mat is a medium coverage foundation that can be sheered out if desired (I recommend applying it with a sponge) and lasts the whole day with minimal powdering.

2. Rimmel Stay Matte powder, €5.99

There are plenty of decent pressed powders around – but if you’re stuck for one, go with this. No frills, and it works just as it says on the tin.

3. NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray, €10

Setting sprays sound like a big swizz, but they’re actually a nice alternative to powdering your life away. A few sprays of this and you’re shine free for the night, without your makeup looking flat or cakey. Perfect!

4. Nivea Men Sensitive Post-Shave Balm, €6.79

OK, stay with me for a minute. YouTuber NikkieTutorials swears by Nivea Post-Shave Balm as a primer, and I can confirm that through some strange magic, it keeps your face on all day long.

There is a slight smell of ‘man’ when you first apply it, but it goes away quickly and you’re left with an excellent base for your foundation.

5. Rimmel Match Perfection foundation, €10.49

You needn’t be afraid of the ‘moisturising’ aspects of this foundation – it’s and it contains SPF 20, which is a nice bonus.

6. NYX Studio Perfect Photo-Loving Primer, €14

This product is pretty much an exact copy of Smashbox’s famous (and famously expensive) Photo Finish primer, from the packaging to the ingredients. It claims to ‘blur’ enlarged pores while clinging on tight to your makeup – just what us oily-skinned folk need.

7. Essence All About Matt blotting paper, €2.49

These handy little papers are perfect for throwing into your handbag, and will suck up oil without removing your makeup. You needn’t spend more than this on blotting papers.

8. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, €8.99

This concealer feels light, but does a great job of covering those pesky spots. It’s comparable to Nars’ Radiant Creamy Concealer, which is more than three times the price.

10. Vichy Idéal Soleil SPF 30, €20

This facial sun cream is dry to the touch, so it won’t interfere with your makeup. It might seem pricey, but a tube should last you all summer long – and who can put a price on a sunburn-free face?
