Stephen Fry poses the great Geogheghan question

Nothing like some pronounciation debate to liven up you Friday afternoon.

THIS AFTERNOON STEPHEN Fry found himself asking the eternal question:  How the hell do you pronounce Geogheghan?

After a few misguided responses…

And a few Irish “names” wading in…

He came to the correct conclusion.

In case you’re wondering, a schwa is a reduced vowel sound.  Like the ‘a’ in about, ‘e’ in taken or ‘i’ in pencil.  We weren’t sure either.
