MEXICAN SUPERSTAR THALIA has admitted that her rib removal weight-loss stunt was just a hoax.
The soap star posted a photo to Instagram of what she claimed were her ribs in a jar, after talkshow host Kris Aquino alleged that Thalia had some surgically removed.
The star has long been subject to rumours that she had surgery to achieve her slim waist, and took to Instagram to let the host know she’d been watching.
Watching Aquino and Abunda Tonight, a talk show in Philippines, Ms. Aquino is saying I had some of my Famous Ribs removed. To all my Filipino fans I would like to set the record straight about this issue. To be continued…….
Hours later, the 42-year-old (real name Ariadna Thalia Sodi Miranda), posted a photo of herself posing beside a jar that she claimed contained her removed ribs, with the caption “To all my loving Filipino fans, here is the proof I love My Famous Ribs, I kept them with me all these years”..
Fans were concerned and surprised at the admission, which was widely reported in the entertainment media. The actress-singer is a huge star in Latin America and has sold over 40 million records worldwide. She’s also a prominent actress in many Filipino soaps.
No sooner had she made the waves, she came clean, Instagramming some ‘gotcha’ style photos which revealed the ribs to be from an animal, and entirely edible.
She also posted a video of the coverage, writing that she “loved every single story”, along with some quotes related to myths.

As for the television host Aquino, Thalia has invited her to her house to try her famous ribs. Aquino thanked her for responding, saying that the long-running myth has now been “debunked”.
Thank you for giving us time and importance! Honestly it was really an accepted fact because everybody equated super tiny waist with surgery removing ribs… And now the myth is debunked, her body is all natural and that is even more awe inspiring… Thank you for being a good sport!
It’s an ongoing myth that some female celebrities have had the surgery to obtain a tighter waist. American model and singer Amanda Lepore claimed to have had the procedure done in Mexico during an interview with Into The Gloss.
