The Body Coach is scarlet over the reaction to his dishes on last night's Late Late

“Two words – stitch-up.”

BY THE LOOKS of Joe Wicks aka The Body Coach’s Instagram yesterday evening, it was pretty obvious he was buzzing to appear on The Late Late Show later that night.

Not only was he being given an opportunity to promote his new book on these shores, but as a big fan of Hozier, he was only delighted to be sharing a stage with the man himself.

And then it all started to take a bit of a nose dive.

First off, you had Twitter in full meltdown before Joe’s arse even met the seat when viewers at home copped one audience member’s reaction to Ryan announcing Joe as his next guest.

Not ideal, to be fair.

And yes, we know Joe didn’t see it at the time, but it unfortunately set the tone for his segment which involved a taste-test with two members of the audience.

If you didn’t catch the show, allow Joe to take you through it as he did on Instagram in the aftermath of his appearance last night.

And so it begins.

Two words – stitch-up. I’m on TV in Ireland, a nation of meat lovers and farmers. And I’ve got some of my veggie recipes out on the table because I’m promoting my new book and someone is going to come and try it from the audience.

“There’s a woman who eats meat seven days a week. Proper carnivore. Full-on, hard-core meat-eater; she loves it,” Joe explained in mock exasperation.

Second is a student who’s studying agricultural farming ‘cos his family have got a bloody cow farm!

Laughing, he added: “So they both try the food, live on TV.”

They have a bang on it, you can see they’re not into it and they’re being polite, and chewing a little bit. Yeah it was a tough crowd, but you know, you gotta roll with it.

Reflecting on his segment on the show, Joe comes to the conclusion that despite the reaction, he is not – in any way -  a plonker.

You go on national TV and you feed them a cauliflower steak and you’re labeled a plonker and that is the game. I’m not a plonker!

To be clear: not a plonker.

To be fair to him, he took it on the chin and admitted that he found the reaction pretty funny in the end.

Nice save there, Joe.

No all jokes aside, I wasn’t offended at all, I found it really funny. I got to see Hozier live and it was really amazing, and if you ever invite me back I’ll be there in a heartbeat.

Good to know, sure!
