Sarah Jessica Parker thinks Sex and the City looks 'tone-deaf' today... it's The Dredge

All of the celebrity dirt we could rake up.

Sarah Jessica Parker thinks Sex and the City looks ‘tone-deaf’ 20 years on

It’s been two decades since four New York women sashayed on to our screens, and went on to make television history as characters in HBO’s Sex and the City.

But for the show’s lead star, Sarah Jessica Parker, any talk of a remake would only highlight how ‘tone-deaf’ the programme is in today’s cultural climate.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter this week, she vetoed the idea of a reboot.

You couldn’t make Sex and the City today because of the lack of diversity on screen. I personally think it would feel bizarre.

Insistent that various social and cultural factors would hinder a remake, she added:

It wouldn’t be a reboot as I understand it. If you came back and did six episodes, you’d have to acknowledge the city is not hospitable to those same ideas. You’d look like you were generationally removed from reality, but it would be certainly interesting to see four diverse women experiencing NYC their way.

However, that doesn’t mean it can’t be re-explored in different ways, with the actress adding:

It would be interesting and very worthwhile exploring, but it couldn’t be the same.

She has a point.

Jennifer Lawrence isn’t here for celebrities lying about their diets

In case you weren’t aware, Jennifer Lawrence loves pizza.

But she can’t eat it all time and she won’t rest until she gets every person in Hollywood to admit the same.

Commenting on a celebrity foible which sees stars of the screen deny they ever step on a treadmill or refuse a cookie, Jennifer told InStyle magazine that it’s about time everyone fessed up that their exquisite figures come down to more than good genes.

“I just like it when everyone’s honest,” she said.

Crying out for a little transparency, she continued:

If you are 20 pounds underweight and talk about eating pizza and fried chicken all the time, that’s not going to make people feel good about themselves.

In fact, she wants everyone to take a leaf out of her book, and ‘fess up when they’re dodging carbs prior to a big event.

If I’m going to the Oscars or having a movie premiere – I won’t lie – I’m probably eating differently from how I would in my regular life to fit into those dresses. And I feel comfortable saying that.

And so you should, Jen.

Frankie Grande credits Mac Miller for his ‘safe detox’ from drugs and alcohol

It’s been almost a week since the untimely death of Mac Miller, and last night Frankie Grande paid tribute to the 26-year-old rapper in a poignant post which outlines the impact Mac had on Frankie’s sobriety.

Sharing an image of the late rapper, Frankie told his 1.8 million followers:

He was the reason I went to the rehabilitation center where I was detoxed safely from all of the drugs alcohol and medications I was taking, when I couldn’t imagine living without them.

Recalling the generosity of spirit Mac showed him following milestones in his journey.

I remember when I would get 30, 60, 90 days clean and Malcom would be there with a gift and a card and words of encouragement… telling me that he knew how hard getting sober is and how impressed he was that I was succeeding.

Frankie, who has been ‘clean and sober for 453 days’, urged his followers to seek help for addiction issues, writing: “ I am here… and I will continue to be here… for you.”

The post has amassed more than a quarter of a million likes.
