Over 25,000 makeup nerds are on the waiting list to buy this €7 foundation

Giz.

WE’VE PREVIOUSLY SPOKEN about how wonderful The Ordinary is.

The cheap, no-nonsense skincare brand from DECIEM sell amazing serums, moisturisers, and oils, all for less than €20.

After a big launch last August, they recently announced they’re delving into makeup.

They claim The Ordinary Colours is a “range of evolutionary colour formulations with mindfulness”.

Colours has (or debatably have) arrived! All 42 of them! Colours is an evolving collection of colour formulations from The Ordinary. The offering begins with lightweight Serum Foundations and highly-pigmented Coverage Foundations with each form available in a comprehensive shade range across 21 shades. Serum Foundations are very low in viscosity and offer moderate coverage that looks natural with a very lightweight serum feel. Coverage Foundations contain higher pigment levels in a non-oily cream texture but still offer a smooth finish that avoids the heavy makeup look that can make skin appear more aged. The pigments used in both formats are treated for a rich, highly-saturated effect. These pigments are suspended in our proprietary spreadability system that allows pigments to look natural on the skin, resist collecting within fine lines and stay on for longer. Both formulations offer SPF 15 protection that's mineral-based and avoid the use of chemical sunscreens entirely. The formulations are and will be the same in all markets but the packaging will claim SPF 15 only in the European Union initially while regulatory processes for claiming SPF in other markets are carried out individually. Serum Foundations: £5.70 (UK)/$6.70 (US/CA); Coverage Foundations: £5.90 (UK)/$6.90 (US/CA). (Hint 1: it's April 1st. Hint 2: Monkeys are always late. Hint 3: It's all coming mid April because everyone wanted pumps instead of droppers and caps deciem deciem

Er, OK.

They were due for release in March, but customers wanted pumps instead of the droppers provided, so production has been put back.

However, the waiting list was recently reported at 25,000. Get in line. We reached out to DECIEM to see how long you’ll be waiting now, and while we’re told that the list would have “absolutely” gone higher, they’re not releasing statistics on how many people are ahead of you now.

What’s the big deal?

Excuse me do you realise how hard it is to find a decent foundation match? This range comes in 42 colours, beginning with 21 lightweight Serum Foundations, and 21 highly-pigmented Coverage Foundations.

The serum promises a ‘lightweight feel’ with moderate coverage, but the coverage foundation is for going full selfie.

It contains higher pigment levels and promises “a smooth finish that avoids the heavy makeup look that can make skin appear more aged”.

Sounds like every other foundation

Yeah well, this one is the toast of makeup nerds all over the internet, AND both are less than seven euro. The serum is €6.70, while the coverage foundation is €6.90.

It’s also tough to get, which obviously makes you want it more. Join the waiting list here, and wait your turn.
