The Stone Roses play first gig in 16 years

Stone Roses kicked off their return to gigging last night.

THE STONE ROSES played a surprise gig last night at Warrington Parr Hall in England.

The band, who announced last year that they had reunited, played an hour-long set at the concert that had been announced at the very last minute.

The Manchester band played songs such as Made of StoneWaterfall and She Bangs The Drums from their 1989 debut album.

Unfortunately, the band did not unveil any new material.

It was the group’s first show with drummer Alan ‘Reni’ Wren since their performance in a big top at Glasgow Green in June 1990.

NME reports that there was no encore but that the band hugged each other at the end of the set.

The gig had another rocker in attendance with former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher seated in the balcony. Liam Gallagher tweeted:
