NEW ZEALAND WAS struck by tragedy this week, after another violent explosion in the Pike River Coal mine destroyed any hope of survival for the 29 men stuck inside.

In Ireland, the Green Party surprised everyone – including their coalition partners – by calling for a general election in January; the government revealed the country’s four year plan; and a snack food company opened a €8.5 million, 55-acre attraction in Ashbourne, Co Meath.
