You see, some of the couples are lying. They’re not together at all!
Shocking, right? Deception in a reality television show? Groundbreaking.
Seriously though, some of these people are unbelievably hard to read. The show will have you questioning what the minimum length of a relationship should be for it to qualify as legitimate. You will ask yourself “how much PDA is too much? And how much is not enough?” over and over. Trust me, these guys have serious poker faces.
Throughout the series, the couples relationships are tested through hilarious challenges (which they seemingly can’t refer to as challenges) called Love Games.
On the surface, they seem relatively easy. Hold something up for as long as possible? No problem! Identify your pattern while they’re wearing an animal suit? Easy peasy. But watch them squirm as the other contestants try to catch them out with contestants at the same time.
Would you forget your S/O’s cat’s name while holding a massive heart in the air?
“Ok, so what separates the show from every other show besides that?”
Two words – Danny. Dyer.
The bossman acts as narrator for the series – and let me tell you, he is hilarious. He gives out before ad breaks, calls the contestants every name under the sun and picks apart their relationships quicker than a lad eating wings in Wishbone. Equal parts brutal, equal parts hilarious – no one comes out unscathed.
Then, there’s host Maya Jama.
She doesn’t do much, but when she turns up for the last 25 minutes of the episode, you can be sure you’ll have a nice outfit to admire.
There’s also a lot more representation when it comes to LGBTQ+ relationships and more unconventional set-ups like throuples.
