What to watch on TV tonight: Christmas Eve

Here’s the telly people will be talking about over Christmas dinner.

DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Father Ted Christmas Special (RTÉ 2, 9pm)

It’s not *really* Christmas Eve until the lads get lost in Ireland’s largest lingerie section. Luckily, RTÉ 2 have put it front and centre of its Christmas Eve schedule tonight, so sit back, relax and drink from the Golden Cleric.

The Lego Movie (RTÉ One, 6.15pm)

Settle in good and early for the Irish premiere of the star-studded Lego Movie. An ordinary man leading a life of blissful ignorance in a city made of the construction toy is mistakenly identified as a chosen one destined to save the universe. Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman and Will Ferrell lead the voices, and it’s the perfect Christmas Eve flick.

Christmas with Daniel (RTÉ One, 9.30pm)

If you have the whole family plonked in front of the telly, what better to unite them all than wee Daniel singing festive tunes to a live audience. Includes guest appearances by a GROUP OF RTÉ WEATHER PRESENTERS and Aled Jones. Scenes.

Everyone’s talking about… Helen Mirren on Graham Norton last night

And her brilliant alternative Christmas message:

The Graham Norton Show / YouTube

“Hello. At this time of celebration and togetherness, we have the chance to reflect on the year gone by – and I think we can all agree that 2016 has been a big pile of shit.”

QUEEN.
