What to watch on TV tonight: Wednesday

Here are the shows that will be on your Twitter timeline this evening.

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

The Apprentice (BBC One, 9pm)

It’s baaaack! The 11th series of the drama-filled hunt for Alan Sugar’s next business superhero. Who will be this year’s villain that we can all agree is awful at the basic sales task they are asked to do? Do we even care about the businesses that they are pitching? We’re just here for the personalities. #TheApprentice

Downton Abbey (TV3, 9pm)

The final series of Downtown continues on its Wednesday night slot this side of the water. Tonight, the peace is disrupted by “an unexpected visit from an old friend.” Oooooh, intriguing. Also, Baxter is faced with a dilemma after an encounter with Sergeant Willis. Cherish it while you can, it won’t be around much longer :( #Downton

Life of Pi (RTÉ One, 9.35pm)

Your midweek movie is Ang Lee’s highly rated adventure tale for which he won the Best Director Oscar in 2012. It tells the story of a writer who interviews a man about the extraordinary events of his life – and it’s quite the watch. Perhaps even a cut above the regular midweek offering. #LifeofPi

Or flick over for…

  • The Apprentice: You’re Fired (BBC Two, 10pm) When you’re done watching the main show, you’ll need the post mortem after (or just another excuse to laugh at the massive, chronic failure of the tasks)
  • Wayne Rooney – The Man Behind the Goals (RTE 2, 9pm) This documentary catches up with the United footballer behind the scenes, including chats with his wife Colleen and kids too. Hosted by footballing everyman Gary Linekar.
  • The Aviator (TCM, 10.55pm) Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett and Martin Scorcese all on fabulous form.
  • Superbad (Comedy Central 9pm) Do lowbrow teen comedies get any better than this?
