wear a jersey

TV3 did a 'rugby fashion guide' this morning ahead of the match and people are taking the piss

A jersey, for a rugby match? Groundbreaking.

THIS YEAR’S SIX Nations championship kicks off today with Ireland taking on France in Paris.

TV3 have the rights to the coverage here at home, and it’s safe to say they’re just a little bit excited about the whole thing. How do we know? Well.

Saturday AM usually has a little fashion segment where a stylist talks through some of the latest trends – this morning, they decided to devote it to the Six Nations.

You might not think that fashion and rugby intersect that much, but they do:

We’re talking about heading to the Aviva over the next few weeks – now it’s a bit tongue-in-cheek, but what we mean is going to any sporting fixture and perhaps heading out after to lunch or to meet your pals.

How to tackle this tricky sartorial situation? This might shock you, but apparently you should wear a rugby jersey and proper shoes and wrap up warm. Maybe take a rain jacket. Who knew!

They’re very sensible and stylish outfits, in fairness. And they DID say it was tongue-in-cheek…

But people love to take the piss, and take the piss they did.

Now lads. Imagine you didn’t see this and went to the Aviva dressed in a shirt and slacks? You’d never be able to show your face in town again.
