A US CONGRESSMAN has been forced to apologise for commenting on the size of Michelle Obama’s bottom.

Republican Jim Sensenbrenner pointed out publicly that Obama had a “large posterior”, Fishbowl DC reports.

His comments came despite the First Lady only recently helping to set a world record for star jumps.

The congressman was apparently reacting against Ms Obama’s long-running campaign to encourage healthy eating and exercise, saying: “She lectures us on eating right while she has a large posterior herself.”

Sensenbrenner – who, let’s be fair, isn’t exactly Mr Motivator himself – has since issued an apology. “I regret my inappropriate comment and I have sent a personal note to the first lady apologising,” he said in a statement, according to Newser.
