Kitchen Hero: Rediscovering the Irish Kitchen (RTÉ One, 8.30pm) 

Donal Skehan’s new show looks back at 50 years of Irish cooking and learns how to milk a cow by hand. He also makes rice pudding and chicken Lahori, so have the packet of Rich Teas close by to keep the hunger at bay. #KitchenHero

Shopgirls: The True Story of Life Behind the Counter (BBC 2, 9pm) 

This new series looks at the history of female staff in shops over the past 150 years, from an almost invisible figure in stark Victorian stores, to being the beating heart of our glossy, modern emporiums. #Shopgirls

Europe’s Immigration Disaster (Ch 4, 11pm) 

Takes a look at the Lampedusa disaster, which saw 360 perish on a boat carrying migrants from North Africa to the Italian island. Features survivors’ testimonies. #Lampedusa #EuropesImmigrationDisaster
