YouTuber Zoella says she didn’t decide the price of her controversial advent calendar – that was all Boots, so you can leave her out of it.
ICYMI: Zoella released a 12 Days of Christmas advent calendar earlier this month, which cost €55 and contained a variety of extremely disappointing gifts like glitter and a pom pom keyring, which people suggested could have been bought in the €2 Shop.
There was a huge backlash online, forcing the vlogger to come out and explain that she was all about the ‘creative’ side, and had nothing to do with pricing:
I’m all about the creativity, I’m all about getting it from a design to a product. Where my input ends is there. It makes me so sad that a product I loved and worked hard on… has left so many people so upset… The price of any product is up to a retailer.
Boots has halved the price of the calendar as an ‘offer of the week’, but it’s unclear if it will go back to €55 after this. What a mess. (YouTube)
