US Embassy in Dublin claims Americans invented St Patrick's Day

They asked people in the streets of the capital what they thought.

LOOK AMERICA, WE’LL forgive you for Tom Cruise’s accent in Far and Away, we’ll forgive you for stealing Chris O’Dowd… but let you away with claiming St Patrick’s Day?

The US Embassy in Dublin has set out a case for owning the concept of Paddy’s Day, throwing reasons like “marching bands” and “turning things green” in our faces.

Okay, so maybe they have a point with the parades.
