Saoirse and the sequel

Chris O'Dowd said he could see Saoirse Ronan as his niece in a Bridesmaids sequel

Saoirse is a die-hard Bridesmaids fan..

THE LATTER STAGE of 2018 reminded us that Saoirse Ronan is about as die-hard a Bridesmaids fan as you’re likely to find.

Oh, we knew she threw a Bridesmaids-themed party for her 20th birthday back in 2014, but none of us were aware she still carried a torch for the 2011 Oscar-nominated comedy.

However, during various media junkets before Christmas, the Brooklyn actress reminded the public that the film remains her favourite, which unsurprisingly got the ball rolling on talk that a sequel might include her.

And during a recent interview with IndieWire, Chris O’Dowd addressed that very idea.

So, on the surface it definitely sounds like Chris has drawn a line under that movie.

Referring to his co-star Kristen Wiig, the Roscommon-native said: “I see Kristen all the time, we became quite close after, but we never really talk about it [a sequel].”

I think it would be very odd. I feel like we did such a good job with it, that it would probably only go downhill.

And yet despite this, the actor had no bother spitballing ideas that might include Saoirse.

Talk about keeping us on our toes, Chris.

“I saw Saoirse Ronan the other day, saying that she was desperate to be in a Bridesmaids sequel,” he mentioned

So we could bring her in and she could be my niece who’s getting married, I suppose.

Interesting concept, but what do you think? Would you want to see Saoirse in a Bridesmaid sequel?
