BACK IN THE day, there was a magical creation available around the border counties called Cavan Cola.
It was ours. A quintessentially Irish/Cavan soft drink that was tragically taken from us in the early ’00s. But it needs to come back:
Because people were raised on the stuff and still dream of the taste
It was thicker than regular Coca-Cola and foamier too. Some described it as tasting a little like vanilla coke.
At one point, Cavan Cola outsold the more internationally famous Coke in the county of Cavan, such was its popularity at home.
It’s so beloved that last year the Anglo Celt newspaper started a campaign to bring it back
Oh yes.
And there was brilliant artwork to go along with it
The people were up for it but Cavan Cola still hasn’t made a return.
The family company that made it was eventually taken over by Finches - no better people to bring it back, then.
It continues to get immortalised in art, though
Proper order.

The campaign needs to be revived
Donegal still has its Football Special, and Cavan should have its Cola back
