Clint Eastwood and Jenna Jameson endorse Mitt Romney

Barack Obama can console himself with the fact that he still has George Clooney’s support. That counts for something, right?

CLINT EASTWOOD MAY have just made Mitt Romney’s day – but he has a bit of competition.

Celebrity endorsements are never going to be the swing factor that gives one candidate a win over the other, but they can say a lot about the tone and the success of the campaigns in the run-up to the election.

So it’s been a busy weekend for Republican candidate Mitt Romney; he has received backings from actor and director Clint Eastwood and entrepreneur and former porn actress Jenna Jameson, possibly the most famous adult-entertainment performer in the world.

Jameson made the comments at the opening of a strip club in San Francisco yesterday where she told a CBS journalist: “I’m very looking forward to a Republican being back in office,”  adding:

When you’re rich, you want a Republican in office.

Jameson tweeted last night that she will be speaking on her political stance on US television networks next week.

Clint Eastwood was a little more subtle about his endorsement. The taciturn Oscar-winning director attended a fundraiser for Romney in Idaho last night, and told reporters: “I think the country needs a boost somewhere”.

Eastwood had previously endorsed Republican nominee John McCain in the 2008 election.

Separately, porn titan Ron Jeremy said that he will be voting for Barack Obama in November but praised Romney for his family values, praising him as a “good man” and an “amazing father”.

“i think the fact that he’s such an amazing father proves a lot. I give him a lot of credit. He’s raised some good sons,” Jeremy told the Boston Herald. “When a man is a really, really good father, that’s very important”.
