IN CASE YOU’VE ever wondered what the real point of the Spire in Dublin was, wonder no more.
It’s about to come into its own and fulfill its destiny… as a lightsaber.
The Dublin premiere of The Force Awakens takes place at the Savoy Cinema on O’Connnell Street tomorrow evening, and we can but hope that the Spire will be lit up in a blaze of Star Wars-esque glory.
It’s going to look fantastic if they pull this off.
Dublin City Council told DailyEdge.ie that they have given permission for our Spire to be turned into a giant lightsaber. Reassuring.
We feel that it is an extremely creative idea and a strong animation of the Spire and will serve as an attraction to O’Connell Street at this festive time of year.
No word on whether it’s going to light up or not, though.
