People were blown away by the bravery of cancer sufferer Annie on First Dates last night

“You’ve got to live life. That’s what you’ve got to do.”

WE’RE USED TO having a laugh and maybe shedding a few tears at First Dates, but last night’s episode struck a more sombre note.

One of the daters was Annie, who was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer at the age of 33. She said her diagnosis made her realise she wants a relationship, but she isn’t too thrilled at the prospect of telling potential suitors about it:

In November 2015, I got a call to say it was in my bones and you know when it’s in your bones, you’re buggered.
The effect on love and relationships is that, actually, I’m probably more susceptible to realising that I need one. The only thing that worries me about telling someone is… do you want to sit down and say, “Just so you know, I’ve got fake tits, I’ve to take a few drugs, and basically I’m dying.”

“Incurable cancer? Great! I’d scare the living sh*t out of them,” she joked.

Annie was paired with Barry the builder, who said he was “bowled over” by her positive attitude towards her diagnosis.

Unfortunately, Annie didn’t feel the spark with Barry – but she said her First Dates experience had given her the courage to date more, and Barry has promised to take her to a motorbike festival after her next bout of chemotherapy.

You’ve got to live life. That’s what you’ve got to do.

Viewers were absolutely floored by Annie’s bravery and positive attitude, calling her an ‘inspiration’:

What a lady. Wishing her every happiness <3
