Giraffe in truck dies after hitting head on low bridge

The animal was being transported along a Pretoria highway.

A GIRAFFE WHICH was being transported by truck along a South African highway has died after hitting its head on a bridge.

The animal was being transported along with another giraffe along the N1 highway in Pretoria according to Johannesburg’s Eye Witness News.

Eyewitnesses had earlier expressed concern about the way in which the animals were being moved.

Witnesses also said that they had seen the giraffe hit its head on a low overpass.

South Africa’s Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is investigating the incident and confirmed that the giraffe died as a result of severe head trauma.
