A new Irish app will help you find a table for dinner in Dublin, right when you need it

Sounds useful enough.

WANDERING THE STREETS looking for a table at a restaurant can be one of the more frustrating experiences of going out – most of the time you don’t have the foresight to actually book a table.

Well, this Irish app describes itself as the ‘Hailo for booking tables’ and sounds pretty useful. Available Table will show you a map of nearby restaurants with actual seats ready, and will presumably save us all some wasted time going in and out of places.

The app is set to launch later this summer, and the idea came from a frustrating night looking for some grub in Dublin:

Available Table was conceived after our founder Susan went out one weekend and had to trail the streets of Dublin city looking for an available table in restaurants, only to be asked, ‘Have you a reservation? As we don’t have a table available for another 90 minutes’.  At each refusal. Susan grew hungrier and more frustrated.

We all know that hungry frustration of being turned away from restaurants because you’re not bothered booking or it’s an impromptu meal.

This idea of a Hailo for restaurants is very intriguing indeed. We’ll keep an eye on this one.
